While gasoline has carried cars a long way in their 120+ year history, the automotive landscape is changing. As the industry looks to move beyond combustion's inherent efficiency limitations and collective environmental impact, it's become clear that the future is electric. And Buick is going all-in, readying itself for a complete brand transformation and committing to a fully electrified roster by the decade's end.

Part of parent company GM's vision for a zero-emissions, all-electric future, Buick's battery-powered evolution is set to commence in 2024 when it will bring its first "Electra" EV to market for North America.

"The Buick brand is committed to an all-electric future by the end of this decade," said Duncan Aldred, global vice president for Buick and GMC. "Buick's new logo, use of the Electra naming series, and a new design look for our future products will transform the brand."

While all future Buick models will be SUVs, the automaker has asserted that the Electra model line will draw heavily on the recently revealed Wildcat sports car concept. While no details have been released, Buick stated it plans to reveal the first Electra SUV in 2023, with production beginning in 2024 for the 2025 model year.
